Set within a 15.5 acre landscape along Mission Creek, this project addresses a very simple program and a complex set of park guidelines. Initially surrounded by parking lots and later viewed against the backdrop of dense urban fabric the modest structure is both a seamless addition to the green space of the park and a more urban element fronting the large plaza. Housing a cafe space with indoor seating for 25, public restrooms separately accessed from the park and cafe, and support space, it anchors the midpoint of the park, which will extend westerly in the future. Its soaring roofline, glass curtain wall and concrete block reflects the evolving character of the reclaimed setting, with its industrial past and highly developed future.
