These five modular kiosks activate the public space under the arched openings of the Ferry Building facing the Embarcadero, replacing storage units with retail and public amenities that enliven the historic landmark. The simple, partial-height pavilion-like structures — a flexible system that allows for future customization — preserves the historic appearance of the original 1898 open air arcade, while providing spaces for display and seating and an enclosed area to serve kiosk tenants needs for food preparation, storage, or other requirements.
